I have downloaded a film (AVI) and I format my dvd then I burn the movie to disc. It seems fine in laptops but as soon as I put it in a dvd player the player says th disc is blank. How can I get this to work?
I have tried several different discs – DVD +/- R & RW. I have used Windows Media Player and Centre and also cyberburn but it continues to say blank on dvd player?
What am I doing wrong?

You need a program like Nero.
It has the ability to burn .avi video files to DVD.
Nero can also make menu’s, chapters, etc. for your DVD.
Although it takes some time for it to convert and burn to the disk it’s defiently worth it.

Firewire for the footage on miniDV tape.
If the other footage is on a DVD, just do a rip of the files to your hard drive.

my video camera records directly to a mini DVD but im recording things that need to be edited on a movie editer on my computer. but how do i transfer thoes individual clips onto the computer so i can move them around and edit? anyone have any ideas it would be a great help if anyone could help me!

Some computer DVD drives won’t play mini-DVD format discs, so the only way you can do this is by connecting the camera to the PC with a lead (USB / Firewire) and using the playback button, capturing the result into a suitable movie editing program. Bear in mind that not many computers have a Firewire IEEE1394 port, but many laptops do.
Otherwise you could try finalising the mini DVD and load it up on your PC – but editing it involves ‘ripping’ the DVD from the disc using a program like DVDRip, and then using a movie editing program which can handle MPEG-2 to edit the very large resulting file. All a bit messy unfortunately!

I transfered a vhs video onto a computer then burned a dvd of it. I then put the dvd into another computer and it played perfectly fine. But how can I then transfer that dvd video onto my new computer? I want to use it for a final cut express project I am working on.

The easiest way and one which I use all the time is flash drives. They are cheap and use them over and over.

About 8 or 9 years ago, I made a dvd slideshow from pictures I scanned to my old pc. Now I am trying to figure out how to transfer those pictures back to my new pc.
Wonder, I honestly don’t remember which program I used as it was so long ago. I Just burned the photos to a dvd in the form of a slideshow somehow lol. Now I just need to put the pics back on the computer somehow.

On windows go to my computer click on the dvd and find the files (normally .jpg or image files of sorts) now select them and copy & paste them on to your pc

My choir teacher had her husband video tape our last concert with her, this really means a lot to us, and he burned it onto a dvd and gave it to me. Ive been trying to figure this out for hours. How do i get the dvd downloaded to me Mac book? Then onto Imovie? So i can upload it to youtube? Like i said this really means a lot to me and the whole entire choir, because this was our last performance with her!

Hook VCR into the Video Input on DVD Recorder like it is into the TV.
Hook DVD Recorder into TV.
Set DVD Recorder to Video Input.
Insert Blank Recordable DVD.
Press Rec/Pause on DVD Recorder,
Press Play on VCR.
Then release Pause on DVD Recorder.
